A DOG was left with fang bite marks and walking difficulties after being attacked by a snake in a city park.
Ryan Williams’ dog Ronnie was bitten by a snake, thought to be an adder, while out with his walker at Perdiswell Park.
The dog walker, who does not wish to be named, did not see the incident happen.
However, after a few days, Ronnie’s leg started to collapse under him prompting his owners to take him to the vets who discovered the bite marks hidden beneath his fur.
“I want to raise awareness because I was by Ron’s side the whole walk and I didn't see this happen,” said the dog walker
“I do paw checks at the end of walks and there was no sign of the bites.
“They (Ronnie’s owners) text later that evening to say he'd been limping and that they were going to keep him off his walk the following day.
“There was still no evidence of the bites but they said his paw seemed tender, none of us could figure out what had happened.”

It is believed that Ronnie was bitten on Wednesday, August 17, with the British bulldog left short of breath by the end of his walk.
With Ronnie’s condition improving, he went out for another walk on Saturday, August 20, and seemed okay.
However, when he returned home his leg began collapsing under him, leaving his owners with no choice but to take him to the vets.
The dog walker added: “It was only when the vet shaved his paw they found the bites and were able to diagnose it as snake bites.
“Apparently adders are more common at the moment and more active because of the very hot weather we've been having.
“It is the only UK snake I'm aware of that is poisonous and that could cause the type of symptoms Ronnie incurred.
“It isn't as easy to spot a snake bite as you may think."

Ronnie is now on medication but vets have warned his foot will swell up further before it gets better.
