WE WILL REMEMBER THEM

During extra curricular English sessions as group of students have been studying the 1st World War and trying to imagine the conditions and sentiments of the soldiers concerned.

Initially, the group studied a letter written by a young soldier, Alfred Dougan Chater, from the trenches to his mother.

Following this, the students studied two poems Dulce et Decorum Est by Wilfred Owen and the Soldier by Rupert Brooke. This prompted much discussion as to the physical and psychological problems the young men endured during this horrific war.

The task was set for them to compose poems based on all the material studied.

These reflective poems were produced by the students involved.
