GUIDE dog puppies pulled in the crowds to help a Worcester opticians raise £537 for charity.

Ellie, Dougal and their handlers were invited to the Specsavers city centre store in Broad Street, where visitors could meet the pair and support Guide Dogs for the Blind by having their glasses MOT'd in return for a donation to the charity.

The store also donated £5 for every eye examination carried out. Senior receptionist Val Paine said the two-day event, on Thursday and Saturday, was a huge success. "It went really, really well. Everybody really entered into it and supported them," she said.

"We had one of our opticians and directors dressed up in a large dog suit."

Staff also donned dog noses to support the cause, which helps blind and partially-sighted people.
