President Eileen Williams welcomed members to the February meeting. Nancy Winwood and Clarice Knowles were thanked for their efforts in collating information given to them by members. This was put into an entry called WI of the Year 2007, a national competition and submitted to the WI HQ.
Members who are keen walkers have agreed to enter a competition to illustrate a map showing items of local interest.
The Elgar Group meeting is to be held on April 20 when the talk will be by Billingtons Sugar.
Members were asked to bring their ideas to the next meeting of a hypothetical picnic to include ten tips on healthy eating.
Our speaker, Glennie Montgomery, talked about Ladies in Pigs. She talked about how she became involved in promoting pork. She cooked Moroccan-style minced pork with curry sauce and pork fillet cooked with wine and cream. The best bit was then sampling both dishes, which were mouth wateringly tasty.
The next meeting is on March 5, with a talk by Chris Smith called Beijing by Bicycle. The competition is an item with a Chinese theme.
