A FOOTBALL fan was attacked as he left a bar where he had been watching a local derby between Wolves and West Bromwich Albion on TV.
Two girls took exception to Scott Johnson's loud behaviour in Bar St Martin's, Stourport, Worcester Crown Court was told.
When he emerged after the game he was knocked down by Martin Griffiths and kicked in the face.
Griffiths, who had also been watching the match, was jailed for 10 months after pleading guilty to assault causing actual bodily harm.
Judge Andrew Geddes said: "Kicking in the head is a very dangerous thing to do. People can be killed or serious injury is likely."
Griffiths, 27, of Greets Green Road, West Bromwich, had been in the bar on May 13 last year with his father-in-law but left early.
On returning to pick up his relative, the girls, who were his friends, complained that tipsy Mr Johnson became loud in their company, said Peter Parson, prosecuting.
Mr John- son, also 27, suffered bruises and a swollen jaw.
Griffiths had a previous conviction for wounding with a baseball bat and another for head-butting an ex-partner.
Emma Rutherford, defending, claimed Mr Johnson made derogatory comments about Griffiths' stepfather before words were exchanged between the two men. He had over-reacted during a time when he was affected by the breakdown of a relationship.
