A 21-year-old man is "frustrated" that he was refused entry at a popular bar because he was on his own.

Luke Armstrong attempted to enter Slug and Lettuce in Worcester when security stopped him and told him that he could not go in. 

Mr Armstrong said: "I came out of one pub and wanted to go somewhere else.

"I went to Slug and Lettuce and walked past the doormen so I thought that they were letting me in.

"They said excuse me, and then asked me for an ID so I showed it.

"They asked me 'are you by yourself? Or in a group?' and when I said I was by myself they would not let me in.

"I asked them why, and the doorman said 'because I said so,' so I started talking back and said 'that's not a real reason.'

"I then went to a group of people stood outside smoking and asked them whether or not people go in on their own here and they said yes. 

"They tried to help me get in but the guy still stopped me when I tried to go in, he let the rest of the group go in though.

"I don't know, maybe he didn't like the look of me."

Mr Armstrong emailed the company who responded and said that he was refused entry due to being a guest on his own.

He added: "It made me feel angry, uncomfortable and upset.

"I didn't understand why they wouldn't give me a reason for why I couldn't go in. I've not been back since. 

"I think it's unfair and frustrating that instead of talking to me like a normal human being they were being unnecessarily bossy and rude."

Mr Armstrong said it happened on a Saturday evening in July at the pub in The Cross.
