BRAVE construction workers rushed to the aid of a stab victim after a neighbour allegedly broke in through her back window and attacked her.

The stabbing took place in Oxford Road in Malvern at around 1pm yesterday  (Monday, August 15).

GBM Ridgeline Roofing workers were working nearby when they heard screams.

Their site manager, who did not want to be named, said: “She was stabbed in the shoulder. It was gushing with blood so I wrapped her arm up and applied pressure until the ambulance arrived.

“My brother was down there, he didn’t see the stabbing but he saw the aftermath.

“He disarmed the stabber.

“He has multiple black belts and used to be a bodyguard so he disarmed her in about a second.

“Two ambulances came and several police vehicles.

“I believe it was two local residents and that one resident broke into their neighbour’s home through the back garden.

“She smashed the window to get in and then the commotion spilt out onto the street which is how we heard it.

“The attacker had a deeper cut on her arm from smashing the window open than from the stab wound.”

William Blake from Blakes Plumbing and Property Maintenance was also at the scene.

He said: “We heard screaming and thought – what was that?

“There were two women and one of them had a mask on and a woolly hat so her face was quite covered.

“I saw all the blood and thought she’s got a knife.

“I started to shout ‘drop the knife! Drop the knife!’ and the other chaps had come down.

“They got the knife off her and I kicked it under a bin with my foot so she couldn’t grab it.

“They kept the culprit on the floor until police arrived.

“They took the injured lady to hospital and I believe the other woman was taken to the police station.

“If we weren’t there, I think it could have been fatal.”

West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 2pm to reports of a stabbing on Oxford Road, Malvern.

"An ambulance and paramedic officer attended and treated one woman who had sustained injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

"She was conveyed to hospital for further care. A second woman was assessed and left in the care of police."

West Mercia Police was unavailable for comment.
