SUPERFANS were moved to tears as Tom Jones came to Worcester yesterday.

Thousands of fans flocked to Pitchcroft to hear him belt out his greatest hits - including people who had waited three years for the chance to see their idol perform. 

David Ray, who was at the concert with his friends said, "We're pretty excited, we booked this concert three years ago and we've travelled 80/90 miles to come to the concert."

Doreen Phillips, 83, was over the moon to be at her first Tom Jones concert and said she has waited all her life to be here. 

Doreen said: "I've wanted to watch him all my life.

"I loved him when I was young, this is my first time seeing him. 

"I've wanted to see him all my life and I'm 83 now." 

The bar was set extremely high for friends everywhere when Sarah Nicholls revealed that her best friend had bought her tickets to watch the show in February for her birthday.

Best friends Sarah and Helen Kirk have been friends for over 30 years.

Sarah said: "I'm beyond excited, this has been on my bucket list since forever. I've been waiting since Feb to watch him live." 

Vanessa and Charlotte Searle were also very excited to watch Sir Tom perform. 

Vanessa said: "We're quite excited, we don't get a lot of the bigger names in Worcester, so we're excited to watch him perform."

Friends Jane Shaw and Anne Gissare travelled from Conventry to make it to the concert.

Jane said: "I've been to three concerts, my friend has never been to one, she's a virgin." 

Fans Julie Pemberton and Dennis Owen were braving the heat in order to watch the legendary singer perform in Worcester.

Julie said: "We're excited, it's too hot to be too excited though. 

"I've seen him perform before, but the fact that he's in Worcester is good, rather than some big arena." 

Love birds Jane and Chris Righton live in Worcester and they were excited for Sir Tom to be on their doorstep.

Jane said: "We were on holiday last week and we bought tickets last minute, we got back at 4am this morning and now we're here. 

"We don't live far from Pitchcroft, so we just walked here, it's not every day Tom Jones is on your doorstep."

Nelly Roberts was also looking forward to the concert and she said: "We've all grown up watching Tom Jones.

"It's about time, we should have more stuff happening in Worcester, stuff in Worcester for the locals who don't want to travel very far."

Life-long fans Vicky Prendergast and Joy Thomas were beaming to be at the concert.

Vicky said: "We have been fans for years, When I was little, my mum bought me his record and I used to play it on my record player all the time and that was the first ever record I've had." 

Happy-go-lucky couple Keith and Dawn Pegh revealed that they've been fans of Sir Tom since the 70s.

Dawn said: "We grew up on him, you didn't have much choice when you were growing up in the 70s."

Justin Welsh and Liam McCombe revealed that they were at the concert to celebrate Justin's 50th birthday.

Liam said: "We're very excited to be here, huge fans." 

Proud fans Jill Clarke and Pat Dallaway were quick to reveal that they live near Tom Jones in Wales.

Jill said:  "We love him, he lives by us in Wales. We're very happy to see him today."

For more than 50 years Tom Jones has left a huge imprint on the music industry and touched the hearts of several people across the world.

He gained a new, younger audience too when he joined TV show The Voice where he has been one of the judges for the past nine seasons. 

The concert took place at Pitchcroft racecourse in Worcester on Saturday (August 13).
