AN argument in broad daylight resembled a wildlife programme on television, a judge said after being shown CCTV footage of the incident.

Lynda Newman, 42, and her 19-year-old son Ashley Newman were involved in a confrontation in Pershore on Wednesday, October 10.

Worcester Magistrates Court was told bad blood between two families was the reason behind the argument - which led to three arrests.

The incident was sparked by a woman throwing a punch at Mrs Newman, starting a long argument.

Mark Soper, prosecuting, said: "Ashley Newman for a lot of the time is trying to protect his mother and defer the situation.

"Once the police arrive Lynda Newman carries on being argumentative."

The court watched CCTV footage of the incident and were told when Mr Newman was arrested a struggle took place, causing damage to parked cars.

Mother and son, both of Apple Tree Road, Pershore, admitted using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

Mr Newman also admitted resisting a police officer.

Barry Newton, defending, said there was a lot of history between the two families which led to Mrs Newman leaving Pershore when she was younger. "There is a lot of bad blood," he said.

District Judge Kevin Grego said: "They need to realise they have got to walk away in the future."

He imposed a 12-month conditional discharge on both defendants and ordered them both to pay £60 court costs.

Mr Newman was also ordered to pay £200 towards the cost of the damage caused to a parked car.
