Year 10 Business studies and Food technology pupils recently took part in a visit to The Elms Hotel' Abberley.
They were there to see how a country house hotel runs its business and the ways in which it diversifies in order to attract a wider range of visitors.
After coffee in the lounge they took part in a meeting with the senior management of the hotel, who explained to the pupils the ways in which they are developing the hotel in order to attract families. There is a new spa centre being built, complete with swimming pool, and there are crèche facilities for children.
The pupils were then taken on a tour of the hotel, taking in the lounges, kitchens, laundry/linen rooms, and bedrooms.
The staff and pupils would like to thank the management team who took the time to explain and answer questions.
Reading Club The Reading Club - AKA - The Bookcases' continues to meet regularly in the Teme Library' every Monday lunchtime. Led by Miss F Fitchett and Mrs B Seeley, they have been reading books by Michael Morpurgo and Anthony Horowitz. A lively discussion regarding the merits of the authors and their books took place this week and the group has decided to read Public Enemy Number 2' by Anthony Horowitz and then discuss it at a later date.
Although members are working towards their Bronze Awards for reading the whole idea of the club is to encourage a relaxed attitude where members can express their own ideas and thoughts about books and what they wish to read without feeling constrained.
If any Parent/Guardian would like to join us in our group you are always welcome, please contact either Miss Fitchett or Mrs Seeley.
