A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following reports of a woman being stabbed at a property in Worcester.
The woman was rushed to to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham with injuries believed not to be life changing.
it followed a reported stabbing in Staplow Road, off Spetchley Road, at about 9pm on Saturday.
A weapon was recovered from the scene and the man is in custody.
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "We have arrested a man on suspicion of attempt murder after an incident in Worcester this evening (Saturday, August 6).
"Around 9pm we received a report that a woman had been stabbed at a property on Staplow Road.
"We attended with colleagues from West Midlands Ambulance Service and the woman was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, with injuries that were believed to be non-life changing.
"After a search of the area involving the National Police Air Service, a 29-year-old man from Worcester was arrested.
"He remains in custody and enquiries are ongoing.
"A weapon was recovered and there is no wider risk to the public."
Many residents of the area were shocked to hear about the attempted murder.
One resident of Staplow Road said: "I heard somne noise on Friday night but I didn't hear anything yesterday - not a thing. I didn't have a clue that anything had happened."
Another resident in the area said: "That's come as a complete shock. We live slightly further away, just around the corner from here, but we had no idea.
"You just wouldn't think it."
