A cyclist has been taken to hospital following a crash near Droitwich.

Police and paramedics were called to the A38 Worcester Road in Copcut just after 11am today (Tuesday, August 2) after a crash involving a car and a bicycle.

The cyclist, a woman, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham after receiving treatment for “potentially serious injuries”.

The Worcester Road is currently closed in both directions from the lights near The Copcut Elm pub to the junction with Pershore Lane, by the Swan pub.

Police incident investigators are at the scene and the road could remain closed for several hours.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called to reports of a collision between a car and a cyclist on Worcester Road, Copcut at 11.17am.

“One ambulance and a paramedic officer attended the scene. On arrival we discovered a woman, who was the cyclist, requiring treatment for potentially serious injuries.

“She was then transported to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham for further assessment.”

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "We were called shortly after 11.20am this morning to a multi-vehicle collision on the A38 Worcester Road near the Copcut Elm pub, Droitwich. 

"One person involved in the collision, a cyclist, has been taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham by ambulance.

"The road is currently closed at the junction with Pulley Lane and Copcut Lane."
