THE reason a lamppost on a Worcester road "mysteriously disappeared overnight" has been revealed.
On Saturday (July 30), Worcester city and Worcestershire county councillor, Richard Udall, claimed that a lamppost on Grenville Road, Dines Green, had disappeared overnight.
Worcestershire County Council has now confirmed that the lampost was one of two removed for maintenance work.
A spokesperson for Worcestershire County Council said: “Two street lights have been removed from Grenville Road as part of a maintenance work carried out by our contractors.
"The columns will be replaced in due course."
Cllr Richard Udall had said on social media he was attempting to get to the bottom of the missing lampost.
He said: "The mystery of the missing lamppost in Grenville Road.
"It just disappeared overnight. I will try and find out why it’s been removed and when it will be replaced."
