Because of the gravity of the alleged offences, magistrates declined jurisdiction. The case will therefore next be heard at the city's crown court.
However, Chescoe's solicitor, Mark Turnbull, indicated it was 'anticipated not guilty pleas'.
Chescoe, who was bailed to an address in Elmley Close, Malvern, is charged with rape of a woman aged 16 or over on October 10 last year in Malvern; rape of a woman aged 16 or over between October 8 and 11 last year in Malvern and observing a person doing a private act between October 8 and 11 'for the purpose of obtaining sexual gratification'.
The case was adjourned for a further hearing at Worcester Crown Court on August 25. He was granted bail on condition he live and sleep at the address provided to the court.
Further conditions are that he must not enter or go within any part of the road where the complainant lives for any reason or have any contact with her, directly or indirectly.
