WORCESTER people could be forgiven for thinking the city was covered with a dusting of snow yesterday morning.
But according to Worcester News weather expert Paul Damari the tiny falling white flakes were freezing drizzle due to a mixture of foggy moist air and sub-zero temperatures.
When the freezing drizzle falls on to something very cold it creates 'rime' - a white or milky and opaque granular deposit of ice which is denser and harder than hoar frost.
After today, the area is scheduled to get warmer and a little cloudier.
"Temperatures will be into double figures in the day and 6-8C (43-46F) at night," said Mr Damari.
"As we get into the south westerly airflow we may get some unusually warm days in spring."
