BUDDING readers can now pick their favourite books in the sunshine thanks to a new unique shed.
Pupils at St George's CofE Primary School are making the most of its new reading shed packed full of books.
Members of the school's book club even had a book picnic in the playground garden and read books together.
Worcester Timber Products donated the new reading shed and the outdoor book storage while the books have been stocked with a £100 donation from Nicol &Co Estate Agents.
Claire Martin, class teacher and deputy head, said: “Reading lies at the heart of all we do at St George’s.
"Books open up a world of opportunities for children to explore their own identity and that of others, whilst enriching their vocabulary and increasing their imagination and creativity - reading has an impact on every single subject.

"The reading shed will allow this to continue throughout break and lunch times - we are so grateful to Worcester Timber Products and Nicol & Co for their generosity.”
Helen Mackinnon, book club volunteer, said: "It’s been brilliant to see the children so enthused and engaged with reading.
"They’re keen to discover new books and share favourites with their friends.
"Their excitement is infectious – we had 16 children at our first book club, and now we have 30.
"We really want to encourage reading for pleasure at St George’s CofE as it can have such an impact on children’s well-being and empathy.
"Research shows that children who choose to read are likely to be happier, healthier and do better at school.
"By promoting reading throughout the school, encouraging this excitement about books, and introducing children to a wider variety of reading material, we hope to help all the children at St George’s CofE find books they love to read.”
Leon Hopkins, managing director of Worcester Timber Products, added: "Worcester Timber Products are really pleased to be able to support St George’s CofE Primary School.
"Reading is so important and we’re glad to hear that the school’s pupils are passionate about it. We hope the new reading shed will help even more pupils enjoy reading.”
