A DROITWICH man who stole power drills and bottles of vodka to fund a drug habit has been jailed.
Lee Shearer, of Ploughmans Rise, pleaded guilty to six thefts in total - including one which was unknown to police until his admission.
Worcester Magistrates Court heard how the 30-year-old stole a drill, worth £59.99, from Homebase on December 9 and returned to the same store on January 20 to steal two more identical drills valued £119.98.
Doug Marshall, prosecuting, told the court Shearer, having been arrested and bailed for those offences, stole bottles of vodka and brandy from Morrisons less than a week later.
"In interview he said he was stealing the alcohol in order to sell it and buy drugs," said Mr Marshall at the hearing.
Mark Lister, prosecuting, urged the bench not to jail Shearer, who he said had already spent a "substantial proportion of his adult life in custody".
"Lee Shearer has been remanded in custody for the last three weeks," said Mr Lister.
"That alone is equivalent to a six week sentence."
Following Probation Service recommendations the bench jailed Shearer for a total of six months.
