VISITORS young and old showed their support at the launch of a police initiative designed to get people to love their park.
The Love Your Park campaign was launched by police in Gheluvelt Park, Barbourne, Worcester, with the message to respect, protect and enjoy the park.
Local policing officer, Paul Green, said the event was a great success and visitors were given balloons and flyers which stated the aim was to make the community safer and send a clear message that anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated.
"We want to continue to work with residents, visitors, schoolchildren and other partners to encourage people to enjoy the park and help stamp out any behaviour that ruins it for everyone else," he said.
Issues raised by residents at PACT (Partners and Communities Together) meetings regarding anti-social behaviour in the park led to the initiative. Police said there is a small minority of people who drop litter or broken glass, do not clean up dog mess, or vandalise the park and they were determined to clamp down on them.
