KEEN cyclists are being sought by a man hoping to find others to join him on a 1,000-mile trip spanning the length of Britain as he helps raise money for a Worcester-based charity.
Adam Matchette is hoping to help the Noah's Ark Trust achieve its £1m dream of buying its own base in the city - a cause supported by your Worcester News this year.
Mr Matchette wants others to join him on his adventure later this year when he plans to cycle from Land's End in Cornwall to John O'Groats in Scotland.
He said: "This is always something I have wanted to do and the challenge now is to find other cyclists to join me on the journey and raise £5,000 for the benefit of Noah's Ark Trust.
"We shall be stopping overnight at youth hostels to keep costs to a minimum and I am seeking sponsors who can help with the supply of kit and equipment."
Mr Matchette, of Ross-on-Wye, will be cycling in memory of a very close friend tragically killed in a motor-cycle accident. He is aiming to raise the money for a charity which provides support to children, young people and their families who have experienced a bereavement in Hereford and Worcestershire.
The 39-year-old is hoping to find two or three other cyclists who can join him on his trip which will take place over 10 to 12 days.
The riders will leave Land's End on Saturday, August 16, and the route will take them through many different areas of the countryside.
"Whoever does this has to be pretty fit as we'll be riding 80 miles per day for around 13 days. Generally the odd long ride is easy for most cyclists but its the combination of two weeks of it that hurts as you don't get much rest.
"However, I'm doing it to enjoy it, so the pace will be average with plenty of photo and food stops each day," he added.
Anyone interested in joining Mr Matchette on his challenge can telephone him on 01989 768039 or call Noah's Ark Trust on 01905 745735 for further details.
Currently the trust, in conjunction with the Worcester News, is running a 'Towards A Brighter Future campaign.
