A NATIONAL bakery is launching a new community initiative to help charities in Worcester.
Every year Warburtons Bakery provides financial support by donating products to worthy causes across the region.
The company has decided to focus its effort on Worcester and all groups have to do is describe how a cash boost would make a difference to their cause. Successful applicants will receive £100 each.
Mike Ewing, area sales development manager said: "Warburtons is committed to operating in a socially responsible manner within its local communities.
"As a family business, the company has a strong track record of charitable giving and active involvement, and recognises the positive effect of community partnerships.
"The community giving programme focuses on charities, organisations and initiatives that improve the quality of family life.
"Therefore, the programme aims to support projects that have a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of the whole family, especially in the areas of diet, fitness, safety and education, as well as caring initiatives that improve the quality of life for the sick, elderly or disabled.
"We also recognise that in the current climate it's often difficult for small charities to raise money so we're hoping this new initiative will help."
Any Worcester-based group that would like to benefit from the community fund can write to Warburtons Community Fund, c/o Emma Hunt, Vital, 14a Clarendon Avenue, Leamington Spa, CV32 5PZ.
