A DROITWICH man has been disqualified from driving for two-and-a-half-years after he crashed into a parked vehicle while more than three times the legal drink-drive limit.

Richard Wylde was told he was lucky to have not killed someone after he downed four pints of lager and decided to drive his Vauxhall Astra van.

The 35-year-old, of Wey Close, admitted driving above the alcohol limit and failing to stop and report an accident on Saturday, October 6.

Douglas Marshall, prosecuting, said Wylde crashed his van into the car parked in a driveway on Mulberry Tree Hill, Primsland, Droitwich, at about 1pm.

Mr Marshall said police officers were called and they followed Wylde to his home where they found him still at the wheel of his damaged vehicle.

In mitigation Nick Roberts said his client thought his drink had been spiked but could offer no evidence. He said Wylde could not understand why he decided to drive while he had 111mcg alcohol in 100ml breath. The legal limit is 35mcg.

Wylde had a two-month prison sentence suspended for a year with supervision. He was also made to do 100 hours unpaid work and pay £180 court costs.
