A SQUAD of youngsters got together on a Worcester estate to help track-down stray shopping trolleys and clean up litter.
Worcester Community Housing (WCH) held the morning session in Warndon to encourage local youngsters to join its Trolley and Litter Squad to help tidy-up where they live.
It was the second time the event had been held and organisers said it was a great success - with a total of 34 trolleys and a large pile of rubbish collected on the day.
Hayley Inns, estate manager for the Warndon Neighbourhood Office, said: "Our event was very successful. We had 19 children turn up - and they were early and enthusiastic - which was twice as many as last time."
The youngsters, aged between 11 and 15, took an hour-and-a-half out of their school half term holidays to go around Warndon.
She added: "We had lots of ideas and feedback from the kids, some of which we will be developing and using. We will definitely be repeating it and we are hoping to make it a regular event with a membership card and incentive scheme.
"Worcester City Council lent us litter-pickers and gave us black bags and Sainsbury's donated drinks and sweets again.
"Our own estate rangers were a great help and WCH provided McDonalds for lunch."
