PUPILS at Christopher Whitehead Language College raised more than £300 following a special African-themed concert.
The showcase aimed to raise funds for the Fresh Start Foundation - which the school is supporting - which supports orphans and other vulnerable children.
The foundation is hoping to build a new school in Gambia.
Teacher Rebbeca Daffeh, who founded the charity with her husband Lamin, said: "The concert was super and we raised over £300.
"We had African drumming, dancing and singing, with workshops from Drumlove.
It was a really good evening and I think all the parents that came had a great night."
Mrs Daffeh said the school was hoping to organise another similar concert later in the year.
