STUDENTS at a school near Worcester have raised more than £1,000 to help children in Uganda and Tanzania.
Year 9 pupils from the Chantry High Technology College in Martley held a number of events, including a PlayStation 2 challenge, assemblies, sporting events and cake sales, over the course of almost 10 days.
They were raising money for Restorers of Hope, an orphanage in Uganda which takes children off the streets whose families have died of disease, and the Chantry's twin school in Tanzania.
Pupil Lydia Hiles said they managed to raise a total of £1,114 for the charities.
"We are really pleased with how it went and how much we raised," she said.
