A NEW club aimed at developing talented sports stars of the future opened its doors in Worcester this month.
The community multiskills club attracts four and five-year-olds from across the city providing the first step on the sporting pathway. It aims to develop children's agility, balance and coordination rather than focusing on just one sport.
Spokesman Mike Eglesfield said: "The development of multiskills enables children to be successful in a whole range of sports and hopefully remain physically active throughout life. The multiskills club, running on Saturday mornings, has been developed in partnership between Worcester City Council sports development team and the Droitwich and Worcester City School sport partnership."
More than 1,000 five-year -lds from every school in Droitwich and Worcester city will also be taking part in multiskills festivals this year as an introduction to the new concept, which originated in Canada.
Mr Eglesfield said: "In the future it is hoped sports clubs will work together to develop their own multiskills clubs providing an academy' style pathway to bring on new members."
