January saw us back in Holt Village Hall for the first meeting of the new year.
Sarah Walker the president welcomed members and friends and introduced cabaret with WODYS.
They are the very talented youth section from Worcester Operatic and Dramatic Society. They looked resplendent in their stage outfits. The girls wearing silver glittery mini dresses and the boys in black with T-shirts with a silvery glittery tie embossed on them. They entertained us with their singing and dancing from well known shows. They were superb and enjoyed by all. We look forward to going along to their show in July at the Swan Theatre Back to the 80s.
We then celebrated one of our member's 90th birthday. Happy Birthday was sung to Margaret Bridgwater. She was presented with a gift and as she cut the cake we raised a glass to her. Ann Winney gave her our good wishes and read an amusing poem on being ninety. Margaret has been an active member of Holt WI for 35 years and has been a great support in latter years with helpful advice to many presidents.
Mary Eaton was presented with a token and a cup for obtaining the most points in the monthly competition over the last 12 months.
Margaret Peters then accepted a plant for her mother Kathy Gregg to show our appreciation for running the trading stall for many years. Margery Sanders has kindly offered to take over the job.
