A KEEN photographer and motorbike enthusiast has got one of his shots into a soon-to-be-released photobook.
Dave Mackay, of Brickfields, Worcester, submitted his photograph of a rider at Donington Park when Dunlop Tyres launched its charity project last year and appealed for images that capture the thrill of the drive.
The project attracted hundreds of entries from photographers across Britain, but only 100 were chosen to be part of the limited edition book, which will be sold on behalf of the Motorsport Safety Fund.
Mr Mackay, aged 34, said he was very excited that his picture was chosen. "It is the first time I have entered a competition," he said.
"I sent in two pictures that I had taken on the day in Donington and one of those got chosen. It really made my day to find out." Describing the photograph, he said: "Hiroshi Ayoama is pushing hard in the pouring rain on his 250cc GP bike.
"You can see the concentration in his eyes.
"Total commitment and amazing skill combined with appalling conditions sum up a great day's racing in this image."
The judges felt Mr Mackay's image was one of the best and most emotive they received and it has now been immortalised in the collectable Thrill Of The Drive book.
James Bailey, of Dunlop Tyres, said: "We had more than 500 entries, with images that covered every element of motoring and motorsport from design elements to on-track action.
"We are extremely proud to display the work of photographers across the country in a book that will be loved by anyone who is passionate about driving in all its forms."
The photobook will be sold for £14.99 (plus postage and packaging) and all copies have been personally signed by two-time British Touring Car Championship winner Matt Neal, who lives in Droitwich.
The money raised will be used by the Motorsport Safety Fund to help keep the sport safe through films and publications for countless volunteers, covering marshalling, fire fighting, rescue and first aid.
