THE winter weather blues seemed like a distant memory over the weekend as Worcestershire basked in balmy springtime temperatures.

According to Worcester news weather expert Paul Damari the weekend temperatures were well above normal reaching as high as 14 or 15 degrees C (57 - 59 degrees F).

"The average should be about seven degrees C (44 degrees F). The warm weather was because we had high pressure over us and the winds were coming up from the south. That gave us some lovely dry sunny weather," he said.

Mr Damari added that the clear night skies resulted in some frosty nights, with temperatures dropping to minus four degrees C (25 degrees F)in some places locally on Sunday night.

"That is not unusual for February and with the high daytime temperatures it can mean a large range in temperatures during a day.

"I do not think we are going to see much in the way of rain until the latter part of the month but we will see temperatures coming down to average by the end of the week."

Mr Damari said, after the heavy rain earlier this winter, he believes mother nature is balancing the books with some fine dry weather and this was just what people needed to give them a boost.

"Everything in nature is about three and a half weeks ahead, the days are getting longer, and an injection of good weather makes people think that spring is not far away. It makes people feel better."
