EMPLOYEES of a power firm in Worcester have raised an incredible £2 million for people whose lives are affected by cancer.
Staff at npower have been working with Macmillan Cancer Support for the past four years and their fund-raising has now topped £2 million. This money means 12 specialist Macmillan nurses have been provided for three years as well as funding the Macmillan CancerLine for five and a half years and an information and support centre for three years.
Carol Hart, who manages the Macmillan partnership for npower, is delighted the way company staff have taken the charity to hearts and worked tirelessly to raise money.
"Every year we have bigger and better coffee mornings here at Worcester and our other sites," she said.
"We have people jumping out of aeroplanes, walking along canal towpaths and fighting their fear of vertigo by crossing bridges and all for the benefit of others. They are inspirational and the results are exceptional."
All money raised by the staff at Worcester is matched pound for pound by npower.
