'DIRTY brown water' has been pouring out of taps in Dines Green with some parents worried if it is safe for their children to drink.

Cllr Richard Udall shared a photo of a mug full of brown dirty water and immediately messaged Severn Trent to ask if it was safe to drink.

The Labour councillor for St John's, who is both a city and county councillor, said he had received multiple calls about the water which was still the same colour after running the tap for 20 minutes.

Cllr Udall, also chairman of the Licensing and Environmental Health Committee, said residents were worried if it was safe to drink.

He said:  “I have received multiple reports of dirty brown drinking water in Dines Green area; it's still the same colour after running taps for over 20 minutes.

"Residents say they are worried if it’s safe to drink, especially if they have young children or babies. I have asked Severn Trent for advice, but so far they have not responded.  I suspect it is safe, but we need to be sure and give people accurate advice."

A Severn Trent spokesperson said: “We haven’t received any reports of water quality issues in the Dines Green area of Worcester from customers, or aware of anything which could be causing any issues in the area.

"If customers are experiencing water quality issues, we would ask them to get in touch with us – we’d be more than happy to look into this for them.”
