MORE than 4,000 people suffered a power cut on the hottest day of the year - but engineers carried out emergency repairs in under an hour.
There were a series of power cuts across Worcestershire, including in Worcester and near Martley yesterday. Some people were left without power into the early hours of this morning.
However, the largest was in the Evesham area where more than 4,000 homes were left without power.

However, engineers from Western Power Distribution had the power back on in under an hour, a spokesperson has since confirmed.
The spokesperson said: "Customers affected by a power cut in the Evesham area had their power supplies back on in less than an hour.
"In all, 4,172 customers experienced a power cut at 5.07pm as the result of a cable fault, but all had their electricity restored by 5.52pm.
"This was done using a remote process called ‘switching’ where electricity is re-routed around the fault. A permanent repair to the cable will be carried out today by engineers from Western Power Distribution."
They did not confirm whether the heat had been the cause of a contributory factor in the power outage.
