A police officer sweating it out in a stab vest on the hottest day of the year has thanked a member of the public for giving him water.
PC Rowan Boyle, a Worcester-based officer, said he had been offered the water while attending an emergency in the city centre today.
Temperatures have soared to near record levels in the city today, the mercury hitting 36.8C at Astwood Bank according to the Met Office.
However, police officers still had a job to do in the city despite the rare red 'extreme heat warning' issued by the Met Office for today and tomorrow.
And, as PC Boyle of West Mercia Police revealed, it is not easy responding to an emergency wearing all black and a stab vest.
Very kindly offered some water by a member of the public whilst out at an emergency in the city centre.

Still super warm out an about, especially in all black and a stab vest! #heatwave #Heatwave2022 #hottestdayoftheyear pic.twitter.com/U1rL5kxg1S
