A Worcester high-school student has joined the academy set-up at one of England's biggest football clubs for the upcoming season.
Theo Houston, a year eight pupil from RGS Worcester, has been signed up by Premier League side Aston Villa after impressing during his trial period.
The young goalkeeper initially stood out to Villa Scouts during a local 6-aside tournament in June and the top-flight club acted quickly to offer him a trial.
Fellow Birmingham-based club West Bromwich Albion were also keen on Theo during the past year, where he also tried out for the EFL Championship team.
It ends a brilliant academic year for the young sporting talent, who also trained with the Herefordshire and Worcestershire’s County Tennis squad.
Houston has competed in a number of tennis events including the Boys Under 16 National Club League fixtures; reaching the Regional stages of the ‘Play Your Way to Wimbledon’ (PYTW) Under 18 Boys Doubles event.
He has also qualified for the County Finals of the PYTW Under 14 Singles event, which will be held this weekend and where the winner plays in the National Singles event on the grass at Wimbledon in August.
