Spring/Summer 2008 nearly here and the first thought that's reaching everyone's minds is Can I really pull off the summer look and still keep warm in our English weather?' The truth is that we really haven't been having the best weather till now, but don't worry because fashions hit the high streets loaded up with all sorts to brighten a dull day and bring the warmth back into summer.

The main looks to grace the racks are Sailor girl and Bohemian chick. Both looks mainly consist of colours but both take them to opposite sides of the spectrum. Sailor Girl, as you guest, is all about the traditional blue and white stripes, silver and gold chain mail jewellery with the odd speck of anchor thrown in to take it all the way to the high seas. On the other hand Bohemian chick leaves no fabric un-flowered, mixing close, strong colours together to create busy looking dresses, tops and jewellery.

Yes, Bohemian and Sailor can go a long way this spring if used in small waves. However crowding anchors with blue, striped tops and matching bottoms is not the way to go. Bring it down a notch and choose one key piece from one of the themes and match it with the good old wardrobe basics. It's really that simple to pull off the trends this summer.

For Bohemian chick how about trying teaming up one of the just above the knee' print dresses with simple flat leather boots, or alternatively why not try matching your simple plain T-shirt with a sailor themed scarf.

The trick is to take a theme you like, and play with it. Use close fabrics and colours on the rest of your outfit. Set the excess baggage such as chunky heels and heavy bracelets ashore and look out for themed smaller pieces such as cute anchor earrings and light bohemian influenced scarves.

The only rule about the two trends for spring-summer is NEVER! And I mean NEVER! Attempt to mix them both together because, let's face it flowered skirts with blue striped tops scream fashion police on the radar. Just keep it simple! A little cute and flowery or strong and stripped is all you need to keep stylish this Spring/Summer
