A 23-YEAR-old burgled his aunt and uncle’s Worcester home stealing a 42-inch television, a court heard.
Connor Weston took the TV and two Xbox consoles, trading them for money he could use to buy food and cigarettes.
Weston, appearing at Worcester Magistrates Court on Thursday (July 15), admitted one charge of burglary, dwelling and theft – no violence when he appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court on Thursday, (July 14).
Mark Hambling, prosecuting, said Weston, with another man not identified, had gone to a property in Avon Road, Worcester at 11.40am on March 18.
Mr Hambling said the property was undergoing building work at the time, and a wooden panel across the door had been removed to gain entry.
He said a witness had spotted the two men carrying the items out of the property, worth £1,610, and later police had been able to identify Weston as being the culprit.
“In interview he admits the offences and selling them at Cash Converters (in Worcester) using the money for food, drink and tobacco,” Mr Hambling said.
“His previous convictions - his most recent are theft of a cycle and a making off without payment.”
Mark Turnbull, defending, told magistrates the home was Weston’s aunt and uncle, and he knew it was having work done it.
“The door was already loose,” Mr Turnbull said.
“Nothing else was taken.
“He admits guilt, he told his family straight away.
“My understanding police have recovered the items – so it will be Cash Converters out of pocket.”
He added that he would argue the offences would be suitable for a community order, asking for an adjournment for a pre-sentence report to be written.

Burglar Connor Weston will have return to court to hear his fate
Michelle Edwards, chairman of the magistrates bench, said they were adjourning for the report, giving Weston, of Canterbury Road, Worcester, unconditional bail ahead of the next hearing on July 29 at Worcester Magistrates Court.
We reported on Weston’s court appearance in May when he and his stepbrother were fined for filling up containers with £320 of fuel from two Worcester petrol stations, making off on foot.
The bungling brothers were caught red-handed by DC Joshua Hunt, the detective having witnessed them steal the fuel from the Texaco forecourt in Bath Road.
