A LORRY fire on the M6 is now causing traffic congestion on the M5 with flames so hot the vehicle 'melted into the road'.
The lorry is said to be 'heavily melted' after catching fire on the M6 between junctions 7 and 6.
Delays are now being reported both on the M6 southbound between J10a (M54) and from junction 2 of the M5 north.
Fire crews made the lorry safe but lanes one and two had to be closed.
M6 J7 to J6 currently closed due to a lorry fire. @WMFSWalsall @WMFSPerryBarr are on scene. It is expected the road will be closed for another 20-30minutes while the fire service make the vehicle safe. Please find alternative routes. @HighwaysWMIDS 5419 pic.twitter.com/NpVX4NZ9lc
