Two teenage girls were being followed around a supermarket men sparking concern among staff.

Staff at Aldi in St Richard's Road, Evesham, acted quickly after the two 15-year-old girls whispered to a cashier that they were being followed around the shop by older men.

The men were allegedly following them around the store, taking photos and staring on Thursday, June 23 at around 6pm.

Quick-thinking team members quickly took the teens into the staff room until a parent could pick them up.

Mum Julie Fennell praised staff: "The girls noticed a large presence of males paying a lot of attention to them. 

"At first, they thought that maybe they were being paranoid but the men were following them.

"Every turn they took in the store the men were right behind them. 

"The girls thought it was suspicious.

"They even split up into a few smaller groups and were on their phones calling each other and looking at the girls, and pointing. 

"The girls were trying to move away but the men were following them around and even filming them as well. 

"One walked very close up to my daughter, looked her up and down and was smirking at them. That happened a couple of times. 

"It was getting really intimidating and at this point they knew that they weren't being paranoid.

"It went on for about 30 minutes. They went to buy a can of pop so that they could approach the till and they said very quietly that they were being followed. 

"The cashier said 'come with me' and took them to the staff room."

Mrs Fennell said her husband went to collect the girls in his car and the staff at Aldi would not let the girls leave until a car that matched the description of one of the car had pulled up into the car park.

A member of staff then walked the girls to the car.

Mrs Fennell added: "They were brilliant at safeguarding. 

"Three of the men were waiting outside.

"My daughter was visibly shaken when she got home. She was physically ill that night - it really shook and upset them.

"I dread to think of what would have happened if they had left by themselves."

A spokesperson from Aldi said: "We are proud that colleagues in our Evesham store acted quickly and were able to provide a safe space for those who needed it.”

A spokesperson from West Mercia Police said: "We are aware of these concerns and officers spoke to those involved. No offences were found to have taken place."
