EIGHTY young musicians from Worcestershire will be performing the theme tune to the popular Australian soap Neighbours in a national publicity event in London today.
Members of Worcestershire Youth Brass Band have been invited to take part in the event in Trafalgar Square promoting the migration of the soap from BBC1 to Channel 5.
Nicola Daw, the band's conductor, said: "We were invited to go along to the launch and perform with brass band members from across the country.
"We are going on tour in Australia this summer so it was a good link for us."
The actor who plays tuba-playing Harold Bishop in the soap Ian Smith is currently in panto in London, which is why Channel 5 decided to host a launch with youth brass bands.
There will be 300 brass band members all performing the Neighbours theme tune. It will all be filmed for television.
Mrs Daw said the Worcestershire members, who are aged between eight and 18, were "very excited" about the trip. This is really great for us and we are really looking forward to it," she said.
The brass band members were due to set off to London by coach at about 7.30am today from Christopher Whitehead Language College in Worcester.
