Three Counties Show: Visitors enjoy hot weather on the first day

The show is returning after two years of lockdown restrictions to celebrate its 100th anniversary.

The event has been running since 1797 and on the first day young and old enjoyed milling about learning more about countryside life. 

The first day of the Three Counties Show was full to overflowing with visitors from across the country who were treated to highs of 30C throughout the day. 

Three Counties Show is known best for its quirky animal shows, innovative stalls and live music.  

This year, the show featured shire horses, owls, sheep and goats with children having fun playing with ponies throughout the day.

The show continues throughout the weekend and is set to welcome thousands more guests.

The shire horse show grabbed the attention of a lot of people as they watched different horse riders sporting different attire from across the decades.  

A woman wowed the crowd and was seen effortlessly riding a horse while wearing a dress.

Horse rider in a dress Families soaked up the sun while enjoying a variety of homemade cakes and fresh food from the stalls at the show.

Stall owners were excited to return to the grounds after COVID-19 restrictions were lifted.

Karlie Bayez from Show Pony Prep said: "I'm excited to be back here this year, it's my husband's first time, but I have been coming here since forever." 

Karlie Bayez and her daughter Layla Bayez, 5 from Show Pony Prep Wendy Parker who is a painter said that she comes every year because of her love of animals. 

She said: "We've been here for years and I've always loved it and I love animals. 

The sweltering sun led to long queues of people lining up for an ice cream or a cold beverage.

The show also had an educational aspect as the Severn Trent Water put together an eye-catching stall to teach children about water safety. Sandra and Don Barrett

Phil Pearce, education officer, said: "The game is the toilet is blocked and the children have to figure out what items should go into the toilet or not."

The show is running in Malvern from Friday (June 17) to Sunday (June 19).
