ONE of Worcester's largest employers is giving people the chance to take a look around its city factory.
Yamazaki Mazak, which employs more than 500 people, is celebrating National Manufacturing Day with a special open day.
This will allow the public to take a peek round the company's city manufacturing site.
The open day on Thursday, July 7 will also include guided tours of the company's plant which makes state-of-the-art machine tools and laser machines.
The site produces more than 1,000 machine tools a year with those attending the event also able to explore its European Technology Centre and Solutions Gallery.
People will be able to watch a number of live cutting demonstrations on Mazak machines as well as completed workpieces.
Attendees will also be able to talk to current Mazak apprentices and graduates, as well as those who have completed their training, about the diverse range of entry points to a career in manufacturing.
The company hopes people interested in pursuing a career with Mazak can use the opportunity to find out more about it.
Richard Smith, European group managing director at Yamazaki Mazak, said: "Having worked in manufacturing for over 35 years, I’d be hard-pressed to think of a more exciting time to get involved.
"From automation to Artificial Intelligence, the definition of what is possible is constantly being rewritten thanks to the level of innovation within our industry.
"National Manufacturing Day is a fantastic opportunity to gain inside knowledge of our exciting and diverse industry.
"Whether you are a student, a school leaver considering an apprenticeship, part of the local community, or a more experienced worker looking at reskilling, the open event will allow you to see the inside of a fully-operational smart factory and talk directly to the people behind the scenes of manufacturing excellence."
