GREATER openness about the activities of the Malvern Hills Conservators has been put on the organisation's agenda for this year.
Conservators director Ian Rowat is recommending a change of policy that would allow minutes of board meetings to be put on the website within days of the meetings.
The aim is to offer members of the public and partner organisations an opportunity to follow the work of the committees and board as it happens.
The issue will be discussed by the conservators administration and resources committee which meets on Thursday, February 7, and Mr Rowat said, at the time of writing his report, the board minutes on the website were four months out-of-date.
Mr Rowat said the reason for this is that the minutes of meetings are written a few days afterwards then sent to the chairman of the committee for approval, but not posted on the website until they are ratified by the whole board.
"Currently the process is held up by our policy of waiting for ratification. I therefore recommend that the minutes are displayed on the website following the chairman's approval.
"As well as giving the public and press an insight into what is happening, conservators may find they wish to have an earlier preview of the minutes.
"In this way the organisation will be up-to-date and open in its operations."
