The clamped cars included a blue Mini in Lansdowne Road near the junction with Flag Meadow Walk which had a sign saying 'key worker, NHS' displayed in the back window.
There is also a clamped grey Fiat Punto at the car park near the shops in Cranham Drive, Warndon and a black Vauxhall Insignia in Haresfield Close, Warndon.
The DVLA has since confirmed how many vehicles have been clamped over the last few days and in due course we will be bringing you full details in a forthcoming story.
The car in Cranham Drive had a yellow sign slotted behind the windscreen wipers which read: "Stop! Do not attempt to move this untaxed vehicle."
Some DVLA literature about 'wheelclamping and removing vehicles' had also been placed on the windscreen in transparent packaging.
A check on the car parked in Lansdowne Road near the Chestnut Inn in Lansdowne Road revealed the tax had been due on October 31 last year and the MOT had expired on September 21 last year.
Colin Robinson, landlord of the Chestnut Tree Inn, Lansdowne Road, said he had 'seen a number of clamps on cars in the area'.
However, bar manager Rob Talbot-Cooper said it was the first time he had seen any clamps on vehicles near the pub.
"I have seen quite a few parking tickets," he said.
He explained that residents' parking had been introduced for permit holders only.
Visitors are permitted to stay for three hours (no return within four hours) which is displayed on signs.
"Parking has improved since the permit scheme.
"I bought my permit in October of the year before last and I find it much easier to park now.
"However, the only reason I can think it would be clamped is when the tax has not been paid" he said.
The owner of the Mini, who lived nearby, confirmed it was his vehicle and that he was an NHS key worker. However, he did not want to comment further.
Every vehicle registered in the United Kingdom (UK) must be taxed if used or kept on a public road. If the vehicle is kept off-road it must either be taxed or have a Statutory Off Road Notification (SORN) in force. If not it could be wheel clamped or removed (impounded).
NSL Services Ltd are the national wheelclamping contractor on behalf of the DVLA to enforce against non-compliant vehicles.
