PEOPLE turned out in force to celebrate a Platinum Queens’s Jubilee event in Malvern despite it being a dull and rainy day.
Priory Park was the venue for the town’s celebrations on Sunday, (June 5) with more than four hours of entertainment and fun.
Mayor of Malvern, councillor Nick Houghton opened the event telling the crowd: “Thank you for coming, we have typical British weather but you are all very stoic."
Malvern Chase Brass Band opened up the music entertainment and had the crowd singing including a rendition of Sweet Caroline.
Other acts to perform included swing act Candy and the Soul, orchestral band Trip for Biscuits and acapella singer Amelia Arnold.
Among the activities in the park, in Priory Road, were a candyfloss stall, refreshments including special Jubilee cupcakes, and a fairground ride.
Julia McGregory said: “This is a once-in-our-lifetime event, we will never see anything like this again.
“It has brought back memories of the silver jubilee.
“I went to London to see the fly-by the balcony, it is great to have local events as well.”
Sara Finch added: ”Us British will come out whatever the weather, and enjoy a drink.
“We have really enjoyed it.”
Mayor of Malvern, councillor Nick Houghton, said: “It has been a good turnout despite the weather. There is a real sense of community.”
Elizabeth Fielden, from Artisory Elf - which had a craft-making stall for children to make their own crowns - added: “The children have really enjoyed making their own crowns, and having their picture on the throne. It has been going really well.”
