THERE were smiles on faces at a Queen’s Platinum Jubilee street party in Warndon.
A BBQ, music, and games for the children were all part of the event at Ennerdale Close on Friday, (June 3).
And the event even had its own Queen for the day.
“It has been amazing,” Shirley Boon said, who took the role of the monarch.
"Everybody has really enjoyed themselves."
Julie Rogers, one of the residents in the street who decorated her balcony with British flags said: “It has been a fantastic way to celebrate the Jubilee.
“There is a great community spirit in this street. It is always like this, which is a rare thing nowadays.”
Cherryann Yeomans said: “We have loved it, the weather has been brilliant too.”
And the older residents in the street, 85-year-old Joan Brixton, Shirley Lewis, 86 and Margaret Jones, 84, all said they could remember the Jubilee street parties of the past, with the Platinum Jubilee party reminding them of the fun memories.
The event began at lunchtime with music throughout the day, and young and old were able to get a picture next to a full length picture of the monarch.
Rounders, egg and spoons races and a bouncy castle were organised for the youngsters, while a BBQ, buffet and other refreshments were put on for everyone to tuck into it.
And the event went into night, with resident Nigel King DJing for everyone.
