FIRE crews have been battling a major fire at a tyre storage warehouse in Hereford.
Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service were called to the blaze at Wyvern Tyres in the Holmer Trading Estate yesterday at 7.42pm. At its height 10 fire engines were on the scene trying to control the flames.
Thick black smoke and debris from the blaze forced the fire service to advise Rail Track to halt all trains.
The fire service said at 11.12pm there was a partial collapse of the building, which was used as a tyre and double glazing storage centre. They reported the building to be very unstable and have advised that no rail traffic is allowed through until further notice.
The blaze has now been put out.
The train service between Hereford and Shrewsbury and Hereford and Worcester was resumed at 10am today, although trains are having to travel at five mph.
