A popular South American restaurant has reopened in the city centre.

Bodega Cantina, which had been closed since November, welcomed guests back on Friday, May 27.

The Foregate Street eatery has been completely refurbished in that time, with a new floor and new decor put in.

There is also a new team in place at Bodega, recruited by new manager Martin Hannon.

He told the Worcester News he has enjoyed getting the restaurant ready for its reopening.

“I’m very excited,” he said on the opening night. “It’s a privilege really to be able to build a team up from scratch - it’s lovely. And I’ve had great support from the whole team to do it.

“If we can become a home away from home for our staff and our customers, serve excellent cocktails and high quality food, everything else will follow.”

Bodega Cantina charity night

The Worcester venue is one of four Bodega Cantinas run by parent company Bitters N’ Twisted, with the others located in Birmingham, Leicester and Leamington.

Before it fully reopened on Friday, Bodega Cantina held a soft launch charity night, raising money for Acorns Children’s Hospice at the sold-out event.

Earlier this month, we reported on a successful start for a Romanian restaurant launched in Waterworks Road in Barbourne, not far from the city centre.

“It’s the way we were eating a few hundred years ago. I am originally from Romania and I moved to Worcester about seven years ago.

“I have some English friends and obviously with a barbeque it makes smoke that goes everywhere so people come to try our food.

“English people like to try different kinds of food – I was not expecting it to be this popular though.”
