A Worcester primary school has been judged as excellent following a review of its religious education.
St Clement’s C of E Primary School and Pre-school was visited by inspectors from SIAMS, the Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools.
All Church of England schools are inspected every five years with a focus on “the impact of the school’s Christian vision” on pupils and adults.
St Clement’s, in Henwick Road, St John’s, received an overall grade of excellent and was also judged to be excellent in ‘The impact of collective worship’ and ‘The effectiveness of religious education (RE)’.
The report says: “The school's vision is deeply rooted in Christian theology and understood by the whole community. It drives a highly relevant contemporary curriculum enabling all pupils to flourish.

“The school's vision has an excellent impact on staff and the wider community as well as the multi-academy trust to which it belongs.
“Governance at trust and local level is exemplary in supporting and delivering the distinctive Christian vision. Thoughtful and innovative monitoring and evaluation has real impact in driving improvement and strategic direction.”
'A lovely school'
Headteacher Catherine Atkinson said she was really pleased with the SIAMS report.
“This success is down to the whole school community - parents, carers, staff and children, the Trust, the local church and the diocese,” she said.
“It’s nice to be recognised for what a lovely school this is and for the hard work that everyone has put in, especially over the past couple of years when Covid has made things more difficult for all of us.
“We have a new headteacher starting in September and it’s great that she’ll be coming in on a high.”
The most recent Ofsted report for St Clement’s follows an inspection in November 2012, in which the school was found to be outstanding.
St Clement’s is part of the Rivers CofE Multi Academy Trust, which also includes North Worcester Primary Academy, Northwich Manor Primary School and a number of other schools in the Worcester and Droitwich areas.
St Clement’s Primary School has recently merged with St Clement’s Pre-school, a move Mrs Atkinson says will result in increased continuity for children from the ages of two to 11.
