A HOMELESS man and 'character' who battled drug addiction has been found dead at a Worcester hostel.
Reports have emerged that Ben Kreisler was found in his room at St Paul's Hostel on Monday evening.
The 36-year-old rough sleeper, who previously lived in Pershore, had been receiving care and support at the hostel in Tallow Hill.
The Worcester Street Kitchen shared the following post: "It is with much sadness that Ben Kraisler (Wiley) a young man who has been a visitor to the Street Kitchen for many years has sadly and suddenly passed away.
"Ben you were a character and have gone too soon.
"Rest in peace young man no more torment or pain xx #intouchglobalfoundation #theworcesterstreetkitchen #foodsharewyreforest."
Mr Kreisler battled drug and alcohol addiction and was described as vulnerable at a court hearing last November.
He said: "I'm doing my best to sort things out at the minute. I just believe I could do with some more help. I'm not using drugs every day."
A letter from Jonathan Sutton, chief executive of St Paul's Hostel, was read out in court.
In it he described Kreisler as 'an intelligent and creative man' and that the motivation was to 'help him recover from addiction'.
He wrote that Kreisler had been offered help and support by staff at the hostel 'many, many times' and expressed the hope that he sustain his efforts.
More to follow.
