A FOOTBALL player has been airlifted from an Evesham pitch after breaking his leg during a game.
West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to Hampton Corporation Meadows in Abbey Road in Evesham at about 11.30am on Sunday, February 3.
An ambulance spokesman said: "The Trust was called after a player suffered a bad leg injury.
"When the crews arrived they found 41-year-old Evesham man with a nasty break to his right leg.
"The helicopter landed on the pitch just near to the casualty so that he didn't have to be carried across the pitch.
"He was flown to the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch for further assessment and treatment.
A rapid response vehicle was on scene within four minutes and was backed up by the County Air Ambulance from Strensham.
