UP to 30 homes could be built in a village near Worcester under new plans.
A planning application to build the new homes on fields off Post Office Lane in Kempsey has been put forward by housebuilder Lantar Developments.
If approved, the homes would sit next to the recently completed 75-home Sallowbed Way plan in Kempsey but would also be outside the designated development boundary for the village.
Of the mix of one-to-five-bed properties, 12 of the homes would be affordable.
A statement included with the application said: “The application comes at a time when the council has a substantial housing land supply shortfall against its five-year requirement.
“This proposal would provide up to 30 new homes, 12 of which will be affordable, at a time when additional housing is necessary to boost supply in the district.
“The development can be delivered in full within the five-year monitoring period and therefore this development will go a long way in assisting in addressing the identified shortfall.
“The illustrative layout is landscape led and shows that the proposal has been designed to be sensitive to its landscape setting and edge of settlement location.
“The layout has been specifically designed to take account of the existing development adjacent to the site.
“Areas of public open space and landscaping space across the site have been located to the west boundary adjacent to existing open landscape areas to create and frame additional views across the site.
“The proposal will provide 50 per cent green infrastructure on-site and will deliver a biodiversity net gain.”
The latest 30-home application is one of several plans to build more homes in and around the village in the last 18 months.
Platform Housing has put forward an application to build 70 homes off Bath Road between Worcester and Kempsey and Living Space Housing and social housing provider Stonewater has also revealed proposals to build 79 affordable homes on the former Aston Coaches depot.
You can have your say on the proposal by visiting Malvern Hills District Council’s website.
The application number is M/22/00497/OUT and consultation ends on June 5.
